The judges for the North Carolina and South Carolina meets are selected from the Carolina Gymnastics Judging Association (CGJA). Occasionally judges from other associations will be invited to judge our meets. The CGJA is part of the East Region of the National Gymnastics Judges Association (NGJA). The CGJA has six officers are:
JUDGING CERTIFICATIONS: There are 3 levels of judging certifications- JO, National, and FIG (Federation of International Gymnastics). Every judge must have at least a JO rating to judge a NC gymnastics meet. JO Judges and National Judges must re-certify each year. FIG certification is offered one time, at one location, for each quadrennium. The CGJA host one Judging Course each year that is for the JO judging course and the National Judging Course. This course is typically in October. For any interested in becoming a judge, please feel free to contact Julio Bernal, Robert Boudreaux. or Dave Moseley. For all steps and requirements for becoming a judge, please visit the NGJA website for the most up to date information. In addition to getting judging credentials, each judge must be a Professional Member with the USAG (Junior Professional Member for those 16 and 17 years of age) AND must be Safety Certified. Please check with the USAG website for safety certification information.
